World AIDS Day: December 1, 2011 

The theme for the 2011 World AIDS Day is “Leading with Science, Uniting for Action.” Many activities are being planned around the globe to observe this event. For some simple, powerful, and engaging ways to take action around World AIDS Day, visit the AIDS.gov World AIDS Day Web page.

You can also participate in AIDS.gov’s Facing AIDS 2011 for World AIDS Day photo sharing initiative. By putting a face and a voice to AIDS, you can help promote HIV testing and decreasing stigma around HIV. Learn more.

The Drop-In Center & World AIDS Day

In observance of World AIDS Day, the Drop-In Center is focused on Getting to Zero. Zero AIDS related deaths. Zero Discrimination. Zero New Infections. The Center is offering free Oral HIV testing along with a $5.00 gift card incentive to the first 25 people tested. The Roanoke City Health Department will also be participating by providing free STD screenings.
