The Community Youth Program at St. John’s Episcopal Church (CYP) seeks director for  after-school program serving 4th – 8th graders.  BA/BS in education or related field required.  Prior experience teaching in school or after-school setting preferred.  Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers, establishing and managing a budget, writing and managing grants, fundraising and marketing needed.

Overview:

 

The Community Youth Program at St. John’s Episcopal Church (CYP) has been providing comprehensive after-school and summer care experiences to some of Roanoke’s most vulnerable children since 1997.  CYP is the only private after-school program in Roanoke to offer its services completely free of charge.  CYP is an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that operates in close partnership with the church which founded it and provides facilities for its use:  St. John’s Episcopal Church.

CYP currently seeks to remain a small program with an enrollment of 20 students, to allow for maximum individualization and interaction between participating students and positive role models.

 

The CYP Director is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight and management of a top-quality after-school program designed to support at-risk children towards academic improvement, positive life choices and healthy attitudes and activities.

 


 


 

 

 

Employment Opportunities:

  • Greenvale School currently has an opening for one full-time pre-kindergarten teacher who will be working with 3 to 5 year old children.   This position offers a benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance and paid time off.   Experience and an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education are required, but candidates who are scheduled to graduate by May, 2011 will be considered. 
  • One part-time teacher is also needed to work flexible hours.  This position will be working with children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.  Some child care experience is required.
