Our mission is to engage professionals in a collaborative and comprehensive response to family violence and to empower our community by raising awareness of family violence issues and resources.
Family violence includes but is not limited to; stalking, sexual violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and intimate partner violence.
The FVCC operates with these three goals:
- To improve the knowledge base and collaboration of processionals in the Roanoke Valley dealing with issues associated with family violence through education and training.
- To increase public knowledge and awareness of family violence issues and the resources that are available in the Roanoke Valley.
- To strengthen and increase a more diverse network of community professionals serving on the FVCC.
The Family Violence Coordinating Council is an interagency coalition of professionals that include human service agencies, attorneys, legal aid, judges, police officers and health care providers. The
members work together to improve and increase the resources available to deal with domestic and family violence.
The Family Violence Coordinating Council meets the first Friday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at the Council of Community Services, 502 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA.
