About Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program

The MIECHV-funded centralized intake agencies serve select communities as a single point of entry into maternal and early childhood home visiting and behavioral health programs. Virginia’s highly trained Central Intake Coordinators accept both self-referrals and referrals from service providers, and screen and refer clients to available home visiting and behavioral health resources in their community. The goal of centralized intake is to promote coordinated systems of care and a consistent point of entry into home visiting, and to provide early identification of pregnant and postpartum women at risk for mental health, substance abuse, smoking and interpersonal violence.

The Council of Community Services, in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Commonwealth University, was selected as one of four pilot sites across the state to improve coordination and access to home visiting programs.
